Zimbabwe - 2018 (23rd - 29th April 2018)
At the beginning of the week I went back to the clinic in Mkoba and gave out more knitted hats to the newborn babies there. One of the babies had just been born and was getting weighed and thoroughly wrapped with blankets to keep him warm (see pics)
I identified 3 youths for the Ebeneezer Agricultural 2 year course. I spoke to each of them and submitted their applications via email to the project. Godfrey from Ebeneezer spoke to each of them by calling me on my mobile. They were fortunate to be selected for boot camp. There are 180 applications and 70 places. I am hopeful that they will do well. Farai, Lazarus and Moses (see pic) are desperate to get off the street. They having been sleeping rough for 8 years. They only.have the clothes they are standing in so we need Money to buy clothes. Later in the week I visited Ebeneezer taking the Dean of Agronomy with me. Andrew and Munyardzi (2 of the boys we sent last year) are doing great and Munyaradzi showed us around. We stayed overnight in Bulawayo and then went to the trade fair there the next morning. It’s an annual event and we visited one of the MSU’s stands there (see pic)
A Scottish couple from Aberdeen originally, and who now live in Cyprus, came to stay at Antelope Park. They were only here for the week. Joan had been here before and had a great love of Lions. Her husband Brian had been googling and discovered that that the town clock was erected by her in memory of husband who had passed away. Joan and Brian were keen to see what is called the Boggie Clock. We took them into town and showed them the clock and a bit of the town. I took them to the Drop In Centre (see pic)
